Ingredients
- 2 cups boiling water
- 5 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 cup crisco
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 pint buttermilk
- 4 beaten eggs
- 4 cups All Bran Cereal
- 2 cups 40% Bran Flakes
- 5 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ⅓-½ cup wheat germ
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 ½ teaspoons nutmeg
- 1 teaspooncloves

Directions
Mix water and soda together and cool. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add buttermilk, eggs, cereals, flour and salt. Can also add (optional) wheat germ, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Makes 1 gallon. Keep refrigerated until ready to bake. Add nuts, dates, raisins as desired before baking. Bake 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes in muffin pans 3/4 full.
